Think of specialty courses this way. The entry level training is your basic hamburger, and the specialties are toppings. You put the toppings you want on a plain burger, so you can have it your way, right? Then why not take the specialties you want so that you can go diving your way?

Computer DivingDiving at depth requires the use of some special equipment, i.e., depth gauge, time keeping device and pressure gauge. For years these three pieces of equipment have been used to calculate repetitive dives and help prevent medical problems. Recently however, the advent of the dive computer has increased the number of tools at the diver’s disposal. This course combines a review of repetitive diving and new technology, and will familiarize a diver with how the dive computer works.

Search and RecoveryOften, divers are asked to search for and recover items lost in the water. It might be a ring, watch, or even some object as large as a boat motor. Whatever the object may be, divers need to assess the situation and determine their ability to retrieve that object. Many considerations need to be addressed, such as stress, depth, size, equipment restrictions, and cost benefit.Of course, this is an activity you can undertake on your own, but a course can accelerate the learning process, and make you a safer, more productive search and recovery diver.

Waves, Tides, and CurrentsWater motion can have a tremendous effect on the diver, in fact the sea can be a hostile environment to a diver who is not prepared. But with proper training and common sense you can deal with the minor problems of moving water and enjoy diving to its fullest.
